Nepal advances MCC funded transmission line project

Millennium Challenge Account MCA Nepal has signed two key agreements to advance the electricity transmission project under the Nepal–U.S. Government’s joint investment ‘Compact’. This move signals Nepal’s commitment to continuing its partnership with the Millennium Challenge Corporation-MCC to boost energy and infrastructure development in the country.

An agreement was signed to this regard on Thursday between MCA Nepal and the Nepal Electricity Authority NEA for the construction of the 400 kV Ratamate–New Damauli and New Damauli–New Butwal transmission lines, covering a total length of 180 kilometers. The total cost of the transmission line project is estimated at USD 154.5 million.
