Metta Akha Taw Day: Shwedagon Pagoda holds Full Moon Day of Wagaung Ceremony

The Full Moon Day of Wagaung (Metta Akha Taw Day) ceremony for the year 1387 ME was held on Friday at Shwedagon Pagoda.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, government officials, members of the pagoda board of trustees, religious groups, and donors attended the event.

The ceremony began with offerings of food, flowers, water, fruits, and oil lamps at the southern prayers’ hall. Participants then paid homage the pagoda in a clockwise direction, and offered flowers at Padamya Myet Shin Buddha Image.

Offerings were also made at the four Buddha Images of Kakusandha, Konagamana, Kassapa, and Gautama by officials, trustees, and devotees.
