Chile halts activity at world's largest copper mine after collapse

Work was paused Friday at Chile's El Teniente underground copper mine, the largest in the world, amid a search for five miners missing after a partial cave-in. One miner was killed and nine others were injured after the mine partly collapsed on Thursday after a magnitude 4.2 earthquake.

According to president of Chilean copper giant Codelco, one hundred brigade members, the most specialized, most professional, and most experienced brigade in Chile in underground mining, working on the rescue. The rescue work was entering a critical 48-hour period.
