Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Shield: MGY Region CM inaugurated the tournament

The opening ceremony of the 2025 Magway Region Yay Nan Myay Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Shield Open Invitational Knockout Football Tournament was held in the evening on July 21, at the Magway Region Sports Ground. Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the ceremony, delivered an opening speech, and officially inaugurated the tournament.

In his speech, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin stated that the Chauk Yay Nan Myay Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Cup Invitational Football Tournament, which has a long tradition in Magway Region, was successfully held a total of 24 times from 1970 to 2019. After a hiatus, the Magway Region Government successfully revived the tournament in 2024 with 24 participating teams. He expressed the Magway Region Government's pride and joy that this year's Yay Nan Myay Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Shield Open tournament will be held as a knockout competition with a total of 32 participating teams. After his speech, the athletes recited the four pledges of allegiance.

Following the opening, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin presented honorary cash prizes to Drum and Bugle Corps that assisted in the opening ceremony. He then watched the first match of the day between UYN Magway Myoma team and Glory Tropper team. The UYN Magway Myoma team emerged victorious with a score of three goals to two.

The 2025 Yay Nan Myay Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Shield Open Invitational Football Tournament will feature a total of 32 football teams from Magway Region and other regions, competing from July 21 to August 22.
