





China’s national observatory continued to issue a yellow alert for Typhoon Wipha and an orange alert for heavy rains on Sunday, as the sixth typhoon of the year made landfall in the southern coastal regions. Typhoon Wipha made landfall in Taishan City, south China’s Guangdong Province at 17:50 on Sunday.
Experts warn that such typhoons usually trigger heavy rains with large cumulative precipitation. The city has evacuated 4,300 residents from high-risk zones and relocated 10,600 workers from construction sites, fishing vessels, docks and beachfront attractions. About 1,920 emergency shelters are open.
