Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw attended and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Basic Aquaculture and Freshwater Fish Hormonal Breeding Training Course on Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP), held at a small scale fish hatchery in Aung Chan Thar Ward, Monywa, Sagaing Region, in the morning of July 16.

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that the training was being launched to enable fish farmers to independently produce fingerlings and to promote privately-owned aquaculture businesses that can help increase the income of rural communities. He also emphasized the need for responsible officials to collaborate in stocking fish species into rivers, creeks, and lakes to enrich fish consumption among the general public.

Following that, the Director of the Regional Department of Fisheries explained the objectives of the training, and a trainee gave a brief introductory speech.

The Chief Minister and accompanying officials then toured the hatchery, where they inspected the medicines and materials to be used in the training, fish feed, and broodstock being hormonally induced for breeding. They also observed the incubation of fertilized fish eggs and provided necessary guidance and support in collaboration with responsible personnel.

Later, the Chief Minister and officials proceeded to the Monywa People’s Sports Ground to attend the opening ceremony of the 2025 Sagaing Region Chief Minister’s Cup U-25 Men’s Futsal Tournament, held at the Monywa Futsal Gymnasium. The Chief Minister delivered an opening speech and officially launched the tournament.

As part of the opening match, attendees, including the Chief Minister, watched a game between the Shwebo District Futsal Team and the Naga Self-Administered Zone Futsal Team, in which Shwebo District emerged victorious.
