Jeannette Jara addresses supporters after winning ruling coalition's primary

Jeannette Jara, the former Labor Minister under President Gabriel Boric, addresses supporters after winning Sunday's primary election for Chile's ruling left-wing coalition ahead of a November presidential election.  

In her speech, Jara emphasized the need for unity and resilience in the face of challenges: She also paid tribute to former President Michelle Bachelet, stating “She was the one who showed them the path that nothing is impossible.” Jara, a member of Chile's Communist Party, won 60 percent of the vote, according to results based on 93 percent of ballots counted, published by the Electoral Service.
