Tree planting ceremony: Taninthayi Region CM attended and planted the trees

Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, attended the second monsoon collective tree planting ceremony for 2025 held at 555 Hill in Kawthaung, where he participated in planting monsoon trees in the morning on 30th June.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister U Myat Ko and Region ministers handed over saplings to officials. Next, they joined attendees in joyfully planting trees together in the designated areas. The Chief Minister and officials then inspected and encouraged the tree-planting efforts at the ceremony.

This monsoon tree-planting ceremony marks the fifth time such an event has been held within the Taninthayi Region, and the second time specifically in Kawthoung, Kawthoung District. A total of 400 saplings of various tree species, including Teak, Mahogany, Pyinkado, and Manjansha, were planted at the event. The public can also obtain free saplings from the Township Forest Department if they wish to plant trees, it’s reported.
