India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Cyprus

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a historic visit to Cyprus on June 15 to 16, the first by an Indian head of government in over two decades. The trip aimed to strengthen bilateral ties across trade, defense, innovation, and regional security.

Prime Minister Modi and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides discussed expanding cooperation in defense, maritime security, and cyber security. They agreed to enhance information-sharing mechanisms to combat terrorism and to increase joint naval training and search-and-rescue operations .

Prime Minister Modi’s Cyprus visit is part of a broader diplomatic tour that includes stops in Canada for the G7 summit and Croatia, reflecting India’s proactive engagement with key global and regional partners.
