Indonesia's foreign ministry said President Prabowo Subianto is set to visit Russia next week. He was invited to join a Group of Seven outreach session in Canada on June 17, but he decided to skip it.
The ministry said Prabowo will be in Russia from June 18 to 20 to attend an economic forum in St. Petersburg. He is also slated to hold talks with Russia's President Putin during his visit. The ministry said the decision to skip the G7 summit was due to a scheduling conflict, as the invitation came after the visit to Russia had been decided.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's presidential office said Prabowo received a phone call from United States President Donald Trump on Thursday. The two leaders discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation.
