Iran Urges U.S. for clear sanctions guarantees before finalizing nuclear agreement

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei urged the United States to provide clear guarantees on lifting sanctions as part of ongoing discussions over a potential nuclear agreement. Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, he noted Iran’s readiness to implement confidence- and transparency-building measures under international supervision.

The remarks followed reports that the United States had submitted a proposal it considered acceptable. Iran requested assurance that any agreement would lead to the effective removal of sanctions and avoid a repeat of past policy reversals.
