The vote marked a historic shift, taking place one year after Mexico became the only country in the world to elect all judges and magistrates by popular vote. Approximately 13 million citizens cast ballots to select ministers, magistrates, and judges.
Authorities reported that the process was transparent, with candidates chosen by professional commissions representing all three branches of government. Turnout estimates, based on a random sampling of polling stations, ranged from 12.57 to 13.32 percent.
