Floods spawned by continuous heavy rainfall hit in southwest China’s Yunnan Province on Saturday, damaging roads, houses and other facilities, and prompting emergency evacuation. There are currently no reports of casualties due to the early evacuation.

At 3:00 Saturday, police officers from the Dulongjiang border police station discovered that the water level in the Dulongjiang Township section of the county had risen significantly, and floodwater breaking through the river banks had flown into nearby residential areas.

Local police forces then quickly patrolled the riverside to check the water conditions and organized residents to prepare for evacuation. Local authorities organized more than 100 police officers, auxiliary police officers, and civilian border guards to seal off the roads along the river, while sounding sirens, making phone calls and providing on-site help to evacuate and relocate trapped residents overnight.
