




In order to raise public awareness of the value of forests and trees, to promote a lush and green natural environment, ensure balanced and favorable weather conditions, and provide shade and scenic beauty, a collective tree planting ceremony for the 2025 pre-monsoon season was held, on Tuesday, in the expanded airport area located east of Aung Si Pin Hsu-Taung-Pyae Pagoda, in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region.
The ceremony was officiated by the Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, and Deputy Commander of the Coastal Region Command, Brigadier General Aung Myo Tun, who handed out saplings to the attendees.
Following this, the Chief Minister planted the teak sapling to kick off the event. Chief Justice of Region High Court, Region Ministers, heads and staff of departments from the region, district, and township levels, as well as teachers and members of civil society organizations, participated by planting a total of 486 saplings of eight different species in designated areas.
The Chief Minister also toured the area to observe the tree planting efforts.
Additionally, the Chief Minister and responsible officials inspected trees planted during the 2024 pre-monsoon collective tree planting event to observe their growth and vitality.
Since the forests and trees are vital to the survival of all living beings including humans, annual monsoon season tree planting ceremonies are being held across the country including in Regions and States to prevent deforestation and to promote reforestation.
