The Union Minister for Energy attended a ceremony for encouraging the teams set to carry out the initial phase victorious flag, held at the Ratana Hall of the Ministry on May 26.

In his opening address, the Union Minister stated that Myanmar has 14 inland sedimentary basins, of which 9 remain unexplored for oil and natural gas discovery, drilling, and production. Among those, field survey operations are now being initiated in the Kalaw Basin.

He explained that in the past, exploration of inland oil fields relied solely on aerial photographs for structural geology assessments. However, with the advancement of remote sensing technologies, modern methods now allow the use of satellite imagery, which can significantly aid in the exploration process and make it more efficient and accessible etc.

Following this, the Director General of Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) and the Head of the Geology Department of Yangon University provided guidance and addressed the operational needs of the joint field teams. Later, the Union Minister presented expedition flags to the teams to mark the formal commencement of field operations. He also provided food supplies and refreshments, and commemorative group photos were taken to document the occasion.
