The World Health Organization (who) has urged countries to bolster their pandemic preparedness by strengthening national apparatuses and enhancing international collaboration.

During the 78th world health assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, country delegates reached a consensus and adopted the “WHO Pandemic Agreement” on May 20, as a response to lessons learned from the covid-19 pandemic. Who Director-General stated that the world is now safer thanks to the leadership and commitment of WHO member states in adopting the pandemic consensus.

Indonesia played a crucial role in the negotiations, emphasizing principles of global equity and solidarity. As a leading member of the equity group within the WHO, Indonesia supported the development of the pathogen access and benefit-sharing system — aimed at ensuring fair access to vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics during a pandemic.
