At a national online conference held Friday in Viet Nam, health officials flagged serious gaps in how dietary supplements are registered and monitored. Under Decree 15, companies can self-declare and self-regulate the quality of health supplements and dairy products.

In addition, local authorities say they lack the equipment and funding needed to test these products comprehensively. The Ministry of Public Security is calling for tougher penalties for those caught producing or selling counterfeit supplements, especially those laced with banned substances or backed by fake documentation.
