Agriculture and Livestock Works: MOALI Deputy Minister tours in Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw, accompanied by concerned officials inspected the Twantay solar-powered water pumping project and the Kangyi Kone reservoir repairs in Yangon on May 21st.

At the Twantay Livestock Zone, the officials outlined the measures including drilling four wells with solar-powered pumps, renovating Kangyi Kone Lake for storage and distribution and pumping water from Twantay Canal using solar systems to meet the daily demand of over 2.2 million gallons.

The Deputy Minister urged completion of the Twantay Livestock Zone Water Supply Project, citing its link to agricultural and drinking water access. The Deputy Minister inspected the Kangyi Kone Lake upgrade, solar pump installation and discussed technical needs.

On the 22, the Deputy Minister visited the Phoe Ka Toe dam renovation site in Bago Region. He heard reports on completed dam strengthening works and planned wave barrier construction. He emphasized timely flood protection, thorough inspections for dam safety and compliance with the Embankment Law.

The Deputy Minister then oversaw the upgrade tasks of the KwanThi Tabin Dam on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady River in Moe Nyo and Letpadan Townships and instructed the needs.

He then met with the district officials in ThoneSe Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department to review reservoir and dam safety, summer paddy water supply and agriculture and livestock development. He also inspected water storage at Thanatchaung Dam and water supply in Taikkyi Livestock Zone.
