Mexico to continue negotiations with U.S. on tariff issues

After a phone conversation with her U.S. counterpart, Mexican President Sheinbaum decided Thursday to continue negotiating the tariff issue concerning the steel, aluminum and automotive sectors. 

At her daily press conference, Sheinbaum said while the conversation did not focus on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which will be reviewed in 2026, it did address issues in key sectors such as the automotive industry, as well as steel and aluminum exports. 

It had been agreed that high-level meeting on trade attended by members of both governments, including Mexican Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, will be held on Friday, she added.
