The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador handed over the presidential credentials until 2029 to re-elected President Daniel Noboa, in a ceremony. Noboa won 55.63% of the votes in April's runoff election against Luisa Gonzalez, the candidate of former socialist president Rafael Correa (2007-2017).
"Transparency has been recognized by those who observed the electoral process with a neutral eye and a commitment to democracy," said CNE head Diana Atamaint at the ceremony in Quito where Noboa and his running mate, Maria Jose Pinto, received their credentials.
