Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with freed US-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander on the phone, after Edan was released by the armed wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Also on the call is US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, who was meeting Alexander in hospital during a visit to Israel.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister said "We're very, very happy and very grateful to the help that you [US Envoy Steve Witkoff] and President Trump gave us. And we of course value his comrades, the Israeli soldiers who are there ready to take whatever action if our other friends, our other hostages are not released."

An American-Israeli soldier Edan was abducted from his military base in southern Israel during Hamas' October cross-border attack that set off the war in Gaza, had been held hostage in the Gaza Strip for more than 19 months before being turned over to representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
