Two people were injured on 12th May after gunshots were heard near a polling center in Philippines, disrupting the polls there, according to police, the latest in a raft of election-related violence that marred the start of the May 12 midterm elections. 

The outbreak of gunfire in Bagued, Abra province, occurred after police had responded to reports of a “commotion” at a polling station, the provincial police office said a statement on social media. Personnel from Seares Memorial Hospital confirmed that two people who sustained gunshot wounds had been brought to them.

The victims are in "stable" condition, the police said, adding investigation into the violence is ongoing.
