Fund Raising Festival: Contribution for the recovery efforts in quake-hit areas

Fund Raising Festival for recovery efforts in quake-hit areas is being held at the Central Boulevard in Yangon. Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the opening ceremony of the festival on Saturday.

After the ceremonial ribbon cutting event, the attendees observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the loss of lives and properties due to the powerful earthquake.

In his speech, the Union Minister mentioned the generous contribution of international communities including the government of Korea for rescue and recovery efforts in the affected areas. He added that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Korea, and bilateral friendship will be promoted further through more interaction among the two peoples in various sectors.

The festival features various activities including K-Pop performances, sales of Korean foods, traditional games, and movie screening. Jointly organized by Korea - Seak Dong Cultural Centre, KK Media and CST Myanmar, the festival is scheduled to be held for two days on May 10th and 11th. All the proceeds of the festival will be donated to the Yangon Region Government.
