Viet Nam PM announces US trade negotiation talks at National Assembly

Viet Nam’s National Assembly opened its 9th session, set to run for 37 working days in two separate phases. Lawmakers are expected to review and approve adjustments to the 2013 Constitution during this session. At the opening, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that Viet Nam is the first country to begin negotiations with the United States under its new tariff policy. 

He stated that Viet Nam responded to the U.S. announcement with coordinated and timely measures. The first round of trade talks between Viet Nam and the U.S. is scheduled for May 7.
