Millions of people in China are travelling around the country during the Golden Week holiday. A chimpanzee at Nanning Zoo in Guangxi Province, which became a cyber celebrity for its habit of throwing items, tossed stones at surrounding crowds on the first day of the holiday, causing foot injury to one of the tourists.

The zoo said a probe is underway into the cause of the accident as normally there are no stones placed around the chimpanzee’s place. In northern Shandong Province’s Rizhao City, numerous clams lay strewn on this patch of sand beach at a regular time as part of a holiday scavenger hunt. The activity allows tourists to enjoy clamming even if they are not good at digging.
