Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov lands in the Dominican Republic

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived at Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo as he begins a diplomatic visit to the Dominican Republic on 30th April.

His visit follows the opening of the first Russian embassy in the Dominican capital amid growing Russian tourism in the Caribbean island. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced at a news briefing earlier that Lavrov is scheduled to hold meetings with his Dominican counterpart, Roberto Alvarez, and the republic’s President Luis Abinader.

They will discuss the further development of bilateral cooperation, including the possibility of boosting political dialogue, building up trade, economic, investment, tourism, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and strengthening the contractual framework.
