Japan PM Ishiba meets Philippines President Marcos in Manila

President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos held a welcoming ceremony for visiting Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru in Manila on Tuesday. Ishiba's visit, part of a four-day trip to the region that also includes the Philippines. The two leaders have agreed to strengthen cooperation on security issues amid China’s increasing maritime assertiveness.  

During visit to Hanoi on Monday, Ishiba and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed four agreements including on research and development in microchips and on bilateral cooperation in energy transition.
