Religious title conferring: Yangon Region CM conferred the title to the Sayadaw

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented the highest religious title of “Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru" to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannobhasa (Agga Maha Gandhavacaka Pandita, Agga Maha Pandita) at Kaingkone Pali Takkatho Monastery in Khayan Township in the morning on April 29. 

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, along with region government ministers and officials, visited the monastery in Ward No. (5) of Khayan Township to confer the prestigious religious title upon the Venerable Sayadaw, who serves as the presiding Sayadaw of Kaingkone Pali Takkatho Monastery and as a State Ovadacariya Sayadaw. 

The Chief Minister and officials offered the title along with monetary donations and other offerings in preparation for the upcoming honorary ceremony on May 4, 2025, celebrating the Venerable Sayadaw’s distinguished religious achievements. 

It was reported that the title was originally to be conferred during the national-level title conferring ceremony held in Nay Pyi Taw. However, due to the Sayadaw’s health preventing his attendance, Chief Minister U Soe Thein personally delivered the honor to the monastery.
