Trump says he will attend Pope Francis funeral

US President Donald Trump announced on 21st April he will attend the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome with First Lady Melania Trump. "Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome. We look forward to being there!" wrote Trump, whose anti-immigrant policies were often criticized by the late pontiff, on his Truth Social platform.

Trump's announcement that he would be traveling to Rome for the ceremony followed a separate announcement he made earlier in the day indicating that he had ordered all American flags on government grounds, including military installments and embassies abroad, to fly at half-staff until sunset Monday.
