At Buin Zoo in Chile, Easter Sunday featured a unique event designed to blend celebration with animal welfare. As part of the zoo’s environmental enrichment program, animals searched for eggs crafted from emptied ostrich shells, painted with non-toxic colors and filled with species-specific food.

The initiative supports the zoo’s broader goal of encouraging natural behaviors. Instead of being fed from dishes, animals are prompted to forage, mirroring conditions in the wild. The Easter-themed activity provided both mental stimulation and physical engagement, reinforcing long-term enrichment practices.

The visitors also took part in the event, connecting the holiday’s themes with respect for nature. For many, it served as an opportunity to introduce children to the importance of biodiversity and environmental stewardship through a meaningful and interactive experience.
