The peaceful Thingyan (Aye Thingyan) is being celebrated in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area in accordance with Myanmar traditional culture.
On April 16, on the Ascending Day which is the final day of Thingyan Festival, people come to play water splashing each other and participate in the celebration of Peaceful Thingyan, while donors also participate in making merit by offering food and drinks.
In this charitable act, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and wife and family, donated various energy drinks and snacks to the people participating in the Thingyan festival in the Nay Pyi Taw walking Thingyan area. They warmly met and greeted the people and gave them good wishes that will strengthen them in the New Year. Similarly, donors also donated lunch boxes of fried vermicelli, cups of sago, various juices and snacks.
During this year's Thingyan, which is being celebrated in accordance with Myanmar traditional culture, people in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area splashed water on each other, washing away the bad luck and dirt they had encountered in the past year with the water, and peacefully transitioned into a blessed new year. Despite the damage caused by the severe Mandalay earthquake, people's hearts and minds were calmed by the peaceful Thingyan period, and the love, compassion, kindness, and words of encouragement from generous donors brought them a measure of comfort.
In addition, some of the young people who came to play during Thingyan Festival said that they have gained new strength to work together as one in the reconstruction and nation-building work to be carried out in the New Year, and that this has given them strength to successfully carry out social, economic, and educational sectors in the future.
