







On the morning of April 16, which marks the A-Tat Day or Ascending Day of Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival, a traditional water festival walking Thingyan was held in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, in accordance with Myanmar customs and traditions, featuring Peace Thingyan activities and Satuditha or charity foods donation pavilions.
Chief Minister U Myat Ko, Chief Justice of Region High Court, Region Ministers, and responsible officials attended the festival to give their support. Following this, at the compound of the Fire Services Department and in front of the City Hall, traditional Satuditha food offerings were served to the public and government staff, in a peaceful and respectful manner that reflected Myanmar culture and values.
The Chief Minister attended the event, offered refreshments and cold drinks to the participants of the walking Thingyan, and provided cash assistance. Continuing the tour, the Chief Minister warmly greeted and mingled with the public who were participating peacefully and respectfully in the walking Thingyan area, spraying the traditional Maha Thingyan water using sprigs of Eugenia, in line with Myanmar customs and traditions.
Later, in front of the Dawei City Hall, efforts were underway to promote Myanmar’s traditional Thanaka culture and to register it in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Locals actively participated in celebrating the tradition by joyfully applying Thanaka paste, and the Chief Minister, along with other officials, observed and supported the event.
