The Kachin State Government is currently working to provide secure shelter with roofing before the rainy season for civilians and government staff who have been displaced due to violent incidents in the state.

In the morning on April 16, Chief Minister U Khat Htein Nan inspected the ongoing construction of housing units on the land owned by the General Administration Department (Headquarters) in Manhkein Ward, Myitkyina Township.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister, along with state ministers and relevant officials, surveyed a 3.50-acre plot within a 59.56-acre area under the General Administration Department (Headquarters) in Manhkein Ward, Section (11). The purpose was to assess the land for constructing temporary shelters to accommodate displaced staff from Chipwe Township. He also coordinated with officials to expedite the construction process by reviewing calculations and proposals.

Additionally, the Chief Minister and officials inspected the progress of constructing 5-room bamboo and zinc-roofed housing units under the state government’s plan. These units are intended to resettle 50 displaced households from villages in Waingmaw and Bhamaw Townships. The Chief Minister urged officials to complete the construction before the rainy season so that the displaced families can relocate promptly.
