The Traditional Thanaka Cultural Ceremony was held as part of the Chin State Maha Thingyan Festival celebrations on April 14. The event took place in the meeting hall of the Chin State Government Office, organized by the General Administration Department. The ceremony was attended by Chin State Chief Minister Dr. Wong Hsun Htan and wife, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, State Ministers, the State Advocate General, the Secretary of the State Government, their spouses, officials from state, district, and township-level departments, as well as various traditional dance troupes.

The ceremony began with the beautiful maidens from the traditional dance troupes gently sprinkling fragrant water with the sprigs of Eugenia to the Chief Minister and State Ministers in front of the State Government Office stage. The Chief Minister and Ministers then reciprocated by sprinkling scented water with the sprigs of Eugenia to the attendees.

Following this, as the Padauk Nat Thamee Yein troupe ground the Thanaka on the stage, Daw Parr Bor ZeeĀ from the Ethnic Affairs Department delivered a presentation on the cultural significance of Thanaka in Myanmar society.

After that, the beautiful maidens from the Padauk Nat Thamee Yein troupe and those from the Nway-Oo Pyo May Yein troupe exchanged Thanaka application with each other. The spouses of the Chief Minister and State Ministers also applied Thanaka on one another. Then, the beautiful maidens who had applied Thanaka showed respect by bowing to the guests in attendance.

The ceremony concluded successfully with the closing of the Thanaka Cultural Movement event, followed by a traditional feast offered in honor of the guests.
