Dedicated efforts are underway to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured wild animals

In Türkiye, dedicated efforts are underway to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured wild animals back into their natural habitats. In 2023, approximately 11,000 injured wild animals were treated and successfully returned to the wild, as reported by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.

The country is home to around 150 mammal species, 490 bird species, 140 reptile species, 19,000 invertebrate species, and 11,000 plant species, underscoring the importance of these conservation efforts.  Specialized rehabilitation centers, such as the one in Çanakkale, care for a variety of species. These centers provide medical treatment and, when possible, release the animals back into their natural environments.
