Agricultural Infrastructures: Providing assistance to quake-hit staff members

The severe Mandalay earthquake has caused extensive damages to the various infrastructures including the agricultural facilities under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.

On 12th April, Union Minister U Min Naung visited the Meiktila Township Agriculture Department to provide foodstuff and cash assistance to the quake-affected staff members.

In addition, the Union Minister and party inspected the damaged office buildings in Thazi, Pyaw Bwe, Yamethin Districts and Townships as well as the state-owned infrastructures, storage facilities and tractors camps.  The Union Minister instructed for systematic implementation of clean-up activities, followed by the renovation and reconstruction works in line with the financial regulations.

In meeting with the staff from Yamethin District, the Union Minister gave words of encouragement and provided foodstuff and cash assistance. They then proceeded to Sin Thay Diversion Weir in Tatkone Township and oversaw the efforts to supply irrigated water to summer paddy plantation.
