Collective novitiation and ordination: Kayah State Government organized the ceremony

Organized by the Kayah State Government, a collective novice ordination and merit-sharing ceremony was held at the Sasana Beikman in Loikaw on April 13.

The ceremony was attended by the Principal Sayadaw of abbots training school, Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, Commander of Regional Operational Command, Chief Justice of the State High Court, members of State Government, departmental officials, local town elders, donors, and invited guests.

The event began with the congregation receiving the Five Precepts from the Principal Sayadaw of abbots training school, followed by the reciting Paritta Suttas by the sangha. After that, led by the Chief Minister, the guests respectfully offered the offertories to the members of Sangha, listened to sermon, and performed the sharing the merits of their donations. Subsequently, the Chief Minister and officials also offered alms to the members of Sangha.

On the morning of April 12, the novices-to-be and Monks-to-be were taken in procession around Loikaw and paid homage at the historic Myo-Nam Shwe Zedi Pagoda by circumambulating it three times in accordance with tradition.

On the morning of the 13th April, the Chief Minister and well-wisher attended the higher ordination ceremony at the Saddhamma Zawtikadhaja Ordination hall in Loikaw, where they also donated religious offerings and requisites to the newly ordained monks and novices.

A total of 108 individuals including 87 monks and 21 novices were successfully ordained and initiated into the Buddhist order organized by the Kayah State Government.
