Two Metropolitan Police officers in London donned Batman and Robin costumes to apprehend illegal gamblers targeting tourists on Westminster Bridge. These criminals often used deceptive betting games like the "three cups challenge" and the "shell game." Due to their familiarity with local law enforcement, traditional patrols were ineffective.

Inspector Darren Watson led the operation, utilizing costumes from the 1996 Only Fools and Horses Christmas Special to maintain anonymity. This inventive approach resulted in the arrest of Eugen Stocia, 32, and Constica-Gherorghe Barbu, 53. Barbu was fined £925, while Stocia, who failed to appear in court, has a warrant out for his arrest. The operation was praised for its creativity in enhancing public safety and protecting tourists from fraud.
