Inspection Tour: Relief supplies and renovation works

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung made inspection tour in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions on April 11 to assess the damages of offices, departmental buildings and staff housings. He instructed for systematic implementation of the debris clearance, renovation and reconstruction works in line with the financial rules and regulations.

During the visit, foodstuff and cash assistance were provided to over 300 members of staff who were affected by the powerful earthquake.

The Union Minister later visited the Myanma Agricultural Machinery Factory under the Industrialized Farming Department in Kyaukse Township and observed the test operation of paddy planter. They also oversaw the supply of irrigated water to summer crop plantations in the catchment area of Nga Pyaung Diversion Weir.

In Wuntwin Township, the Union Minister inspected the repair works of Samone Water Conduit in the catchment area of Kintar Dam which was damaged by the severe Mandalay earthquake. The Union Minister instructed for timely completion of the repair works.

At present, the summer crop plantations are being irrigated with the use of diesel engines and solar-powered pumping system. The Union Minister later proceeded to the southern Meiktila Lake, and viewed the damage of the embankment caused by the earthquake. The reconstruction works are now underway, and the Union Minister instructed the preparation plans to avoid further damage due to the rain.
