








A cash donation ceremony was held at the Kachin State Natural Disaster Management Office on April 8, for the people affected by the Mandalay earthquake that occurred on May 28, which caused seismic damage in various earthquake-prone areas.
During this event, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khat Htain Nan expressed gratitude and pride on behalf of the state government for the contributions made by local residents to assist their fellow community members affected by the earthquake.
A total of 6.1 million kyats in donations was received, for which a certificate of honor was presented to the donors.
Next, the Chief Minister visited the 100-acre model plantation in the industrial zone of Myitkyina Township in the afternoon, where he observed various crops, including winter vegetables and soy bean and sunflowers that are cultivated using Solar pumping water.
He spoke encouragingly to the farmers and coordinated with relevant departmental officials to address their needs.
Furthermore, to protect Myitkyina from potential flooding from the Ayeyarwady River, the Chief Minister visited the site where sandbanks are being dredged under the Bala Min Htin Bridge, in accordance with development regulations for river management.
He inspected ongoing excavations and operations involving heavy machinery and earth-moving vehicles at the site, and stressed that relevant departments must adhere closely to regulations.
Similarly, the Chief Minister and officials inspected preparation work for the construction of a sluice gate at the main inlet/outlet of the city, located near the Sitapu Ward and the Ayeyarwady Viewpoint Resort.
They reviewed measures for the construction of a flood protection wall along designated stretches of the riverbank, which will withstand river water levels rising up to 1,450 centimeters, ensuring protection for the city.
