The Galápagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean, part of Ecuador, located about 1,000 km west of the mainland. 

These islands are famous for their unique biodiversity and played a crucial role in the development of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. Wildlife including marine iguanas, green sea turtles, giant tortoises and several species of birds, as well as of and scopes and tourists, in Ecuador's iconic Galapagos National Park. 

The Galápagos Islands are still studied by scientists and researchers today, as they continue to provide valuable insights into evolutionary processes.
