The State Administration Council member and Union Minister for Defense, General Maung Maung Aye along with officials from the Ministry, on April 8, visited the housing areas and temporary relocation sites where the Ministry of Defense’s staff and their families reside, following the strong earthquake that occurred.
He met with the staff and their families to assess the situation. Initially, the SAC member and officials met with the staff and their families living in the residential buildings designated for return, specifically at the Wunna Theiddhi housing complexes (Blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4). During the visit, he offered words of encouragement and made sure to address the essential needs of the staff, including the provision of drinking water, food, and other necessities.
He emphasized that responsible officials must ensure the well-being of the staff and their families and meet their needs as best as possible. Next, the SAC member Union Minister and officials visited the temporary relocation sites, including the Badauk housing complexes (Blocks 603, 755, and 756) and the one thousand acres housing (Block 1394), which had been designated as unsuitable for returning due to the assessment by the construction ministry’s inspection teams.
At these locations, staff and their families had been relocated to the designated training grounds. The Union Minister met with the staff and their families there, offering more words of encouragement and reassurances.
The staff were informed that measures would be taken to ensure they have adequate drinking water, access to food, medical treatment, and that all other needs would be fulfilled. The Union Minister assured them that efforts would be made to address any issues or requests raised by the families, and that necessary actions would be coordinated accordingly.
