Uruguayan and Panamanian Presidents call for Latin American unity in the face of uncertainty

Leaders from Uruguay and Panama have emphasized the importance of Latin American unity amid regional uncertainties.​ In May 2024, Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino called for a government of national unity to tackle pressing issues like unemployment and poverty. 

He engaged with other Presidential candidates to build political consensus and promote pro-business policies without neglecting the needs of the underprivileged. 

 Later that year, in August 2024, Panama President proposed organizing a summit with 17 Latin American presidents The summit aimed to issue a joint declaration and seek peaceful solutions to the conflict, highlighting Panama's commitment to regional stability.  

These developments underscore the complexities of fostering unity in Latin America, where political differences and regional disputes often impede collaborative efforts.​
