Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win received a delegation led by UNOPS Country Director Ms. Sara Austin Netzer at the ministry’s temporary office on April 4.

During the meeting, they cordially and openly discussed on matters of receiving assistance from the Global Fund, field survey of damages and conducting rescue operations at quake-hit areas in collaboration with the Ministry and international health care staff and restoring of damaged hospital, ensuring the durability and risks.

In the evening, the Union Minister received a delegation led by Emergency Medical Response Manager Mr. John Troke from Samaritan’s Purse International Relief. To be able to conduct emergency surgery in timely manner, the meeting focused on providing 2 mobile operation rooms, operation of temporary hospital consisting intensive care unit, out-patient and radiology departments to provide health care services for 100 to 150 patients and availability of clean drinking water.

On April 3rd, the Union Minister accompanied by concerned official met with medical units from Russia, the Philippines and Bangladesh who are providing treatment to the quake affected people at 50-Bed Hospital in Zabuthiri Township to discuss continuous collaboration works in earthquake aftermath health care sector.

On April 4th, the medical unit from Russian Federation and Bangladesh performed surgery to 6 patients in collaboration with specialists from Myanmar at 100-Bed Hospital in Lewe Township.
