






Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win toured in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on Thursday to assess the damaged buildings and infrastructure caused by the powerful earthquake.
The recent disaster has caused widespread damage at Myanmar Corporate Institue (MCI) in the compound of Diplomatic Zone in Nay Pyi Taw Deckhinathiri Township. The substantial damage has also seen at the Yan Aung Myin Dam which is the source of drinking water supply to Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
The dam is an earthen type with 36 ft high and 4,060 ft wide. Its catchment area is 11 squaremiles. The earthquake has caused structure failure to the dam, and repair works are being undertaken. In Zabuthiri Township, the earthen type Yay Ngan Dam is also affected by the quake, causing landslides and structure failure.
The dam is 30 ft high and 1,000 ft wide with 1,200 catchment area. Necessary restoration works are being expedited. Chaung Ma Gyi Dam in the township is also damaged by quake. During the inspection, the Vice Senior General instructed for systematic work implementation to ensure the strength of the facilities.
At Paung Laung Sports Ground in Pyinmana, the Vice Senior General oversaw the health care services being rendered to the injured persons at the temporary hospital. Specialists, health staff and nurses from the military and the Ministry of Health are providing health assistance to the patient day in and day out. In addition, a 40-member medical team from Bhutan also joined the health assistance measures.
