Strengthening Cooperation: Meeting with the Prime Minister of Nepal

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General MinAung Hlaing met with Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. KP Shrma Oli in Thailand on April 3rd.

During the meeting, the Nepalese Prime Minister expressed his condolences and sympathy over the quake affected victims in Myanmar, saying that his country has already dispatched rescue teams along with the health care staff to Myanmar to provide humanitarian assistance.

He also stated the rehabilitation process in Nepal following the 2015 powerful earthquake that killed over 9,000 people and injured over 23,000 across the country. He also emphasized to strengthen friendship and promote cooperation between the two countries.

Then, the Prime Minister expressed words of thanks to the Nepalese Prime Minister for giving a helping hand to Myanmar, during the hardship time. As the relations between the two countries exist for many decades, the Prime Minister called for boosting collaboration between the two countries, while sharing experience of rehabilitation tasks.

The meeting also focused on promoting cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and other sectors, as well as preparation for holding the multi-party democratic general elections. They also exchanged views on promotion of cooperation among BIMSTEC member countries.
