


China unveiled the 2.0 version of “Tong Tong,” the world’s first artificial general intelligence (AGI) agent, on Saturday at the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum.
Developed by the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI), Tong Tong 2.0 features a young girl AI capable of autonomous learning, reflection, and growth. It can dynamically update its knowledge base and skills, learning in a human-like manner.
Chen Hao, executive director at BIGAI, highlighted its ability to align language and actions, and perform parallel task planning. The AI will be made publicly available by the end of the year, with future plans for integration with a robot to enhance physical interaction.
The launch was a key moment at the forum, which also featured over 50 innovative achievements and discussions on AI’s expanding role in technology. The Zhongguancun Forum, running through Monday, brings together participants from over 100 countries to discuss global tech cooperation.
