Muslims across Sri Lanka celebrated Eid ul-Fitr on Monday, marking the end of a month-long fast during Ramadan.
People gathered at mosques for special Eid prayers, followed by warm exchanges of greetings. A key tradition on this day involved visiting the graves of loved ones, where families prayed for the departed. The festival was also marked by communal meals, charity, and family gatherings.
Authorities ensured security measures were in place to facilitate the peaceful observance of the festival. On the occasion, Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake sent his greetings to the community, expressing hope that this Eid-ul-Fitr would bring peace, reconciliation and a new era of renewal and prosperity.
