President Emmanuel Macron convened an Ecological Planning Council on Monday to address a "remobilization" in transport and housing.

The meeting included around fifteen ministers and aimed to assess ecological planning. The Elysée Palace acknowledged a slowdown in the decline of greenhouse gas emissions, with a projected 1.8% reduction in 2024.

Macron’s council focused on sectors like transport, construction and forestry, where CO2 absorption had fallen short. Discussions included expanding measures such as supporting electric vehicle purchases and transitioning housing from fossil fuels to electricity. Macron also spoke at the conclusion of the SOS Oceans conference, ahead of the UN Ocean Conference in Nice this June.
