A recent earthquake in Thailand must have been a terrifying experience, especially for tourists who may not have been expecting such a natural disaster. The sudden shaking, especially in a place known for its peaceful, tropical setting, likely caused a lot of panic. The fact that people were screaming, suggests the shock was significant, as earthquakes can be very disorienting and unsettling.
Augustin Gus, French tourist: "I was in the elevator. Just when I left the elevator, the earth started moving. I thought it was me because of the hot [temperature] or something, and it was not me, because everyone was screaming and running, so I started screaming as well, and running. After I left the mall, it was ok."
In a tourist-heavy area, such an event would have also caused chaos for local authorities and emergency services as they worked to ensure everyone’s safety.
